The PREP Approach Global Reach

In the series of videos below, PREP’s founder, Dr. Howard J. Markman, reviews the international influence of the PREP Approach, which spans fifteen countries and includes translations into five languages.

Along with being a John Evans Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of Denver, Dr. Markman is a widely sought-after expert on marriage and romantic relationships. Dr. Markman has an extensive history of publishing and speaking in the field of relationships and prevention, including a deep background in research on communication and conflict management. His interviews and appearances include Oprah, The Today Show, and in The New York Times, Time Magazine, Washington Post, Redbook, Men's Health, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today. He has co-authored 12 books including, We Can Work It Out, 12 Hours to a Great Marriage and the best seller, Fighting For Your Marriage.

A longstanding relationship with the U.S. military

Dr. Markman shares how beginning with the Navy in 1989, PREP now provides materials and services to all branches of the military.

Beginning in Norway over 20 years ago, PREP is being used in both the Norwegian civilian and military populations.

Singapore

The government of Singapore disseminates a two-hour version to every pre-marital couple applying for a marriage license. (English and Mandarin)

Chile

Heading into South America, Spanish PREP is offered by the Chilean Catholic Church.

Colombia

PREP trained facilitators in the Colombian Navy are also using PREP in Spanish.

Australia

Adaptations of PREP are being used in unique ways meeting the needs of remote Australian areas.

Israel

"iPREP" is used by an organization working with couples.

Qatar

Stretching beyond western religions, traditions, and cultures, PREP is working on providing pre-marital instruction in the Islamic world.

Estonia

PREP's, Within My Reach is currently being introduced into the Balkans.
